I love it when our world inadvertently bumps into a biblical truth and they think they’ve discovered something new. Whether it’s a NY Times article I read recently hailing the benefits of taking a day off and resting. Hmmmmmm I think I’ve heard that somewhere before? I saw a segment on the Today show [don’t judge me] where they interviewed a NY Times best selling author about his book ‘5 Ways to Get Out of Debt’ [that wasn’t the exact title-but close enough] as the author went through to step 5, which was ‘give a percentage of your income away each pay’. The today show host looked perplexed, ‘I thought you were trying to get out of debt, why give it away?’ The author replied, ‘I don’t know. It just works?!’ Hmmmmmm, again, I feel like I’ve read that somewhere before?!  The Bible is not only true, it’s TRUTH! How God designed the universe to work and when we align our lives to it, life works best!

Author Neil Paine developed an algorithm to determine the NBA’s most valuable coach. When all the statistics were figured in, one coach stood out above them all, Greg Popovich [aka ‘Pop’]. The 5 time NBA championship coach of the San Antonio Spurs scored 2x better than the next closest competitor. What’s the secret to his success? His long time assistant Chip Engelland says, “A lot of coaches can yell or be nice, but what Pop does is different. He does 2 things over and over: He will tell you the truth with no bull****, and he will love you to death.” Sound familiar?

“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,”
Ephesians 4:15

My hope is this: In a fake PC world, the church would be different. We’d be a people that would boldly proclaim what is TRUTH from God’s word- but do so, as we live such humble, LOVE filled lives that the world can’t help but pay attention.

GO SPURS!
