The “UNITED” States of America? I’m not so sure about that anymore. We are in an unprecedented time of divisiveness in our country. The day after the election, some people are in despair, others are rejoicing, yet our country has never been so divided. In light of that, I’d like to share a few thoughts for the believers in Christ:
1.OUR GUY WON 2000 YEARS AGO
“I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
While I vote for earthly officials, I’ve already got my KING! Jesus Christ, our King was raised from the dead and sits as Ruler and Authority for all eternity! This is where my hope lies.
2. We VOTE for government officials but our HOPE is in God
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation”
3. Although we may vote as Republican, Democrat, Independent, our citizenship is actually in HEAVEN
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”
4. Although we may disagree with our authority
A. We must SUBMIT:
“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”
B. We must PRAY for our leaders
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
5. In all things, we must TRUST and OBEY The LORD
“For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our king; he will save us.”
