God is breaking ground by preparing people to be open to the Good News. It is in times of trouble that people begin to realize they are not in control.  People are searching for something to hold onto, something that will bring them hope and security. In their searching, God in his mercy is tilling the soil of their heart to be open to the gospel.

We are living in a time when technology is being used more and more to communicate and connect with one another. Nowadays Facebook is big, in fact for many it can almost be addicting. I know many people who have to stay away from it for a season because it will take so much of their time! Facebook is entertaining and informative. It’s a place you can share pictures, stories, and viewpoints on many issues. It has also become a place where church services are being held. As people are scanning through Facebook, they will come upon a church service and click that button and tune in… And their lives will never be the same! Many are hearing the Good News of the Gospel as if it was for the first time because God is breaking ground and has prepared them to open their heart and receive the gift of salvation, The Good News “…For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

It’s possible they were invited by a family member, a coworker or a friend, to tune into the service, and they say yes because what they are witnessing is someone whose life is filled with peace rather than fear, and security in a time of uncertainty, and faith and hope for the future.

God is breaking ground, and again he is using technology to do it. Although we are in a time of distancing ourselves from one another physically it is not stopping us!

God created us to be social creatures. Scripture tells us we are not meant to be alone — so we are finding ways to connect. Zoom has skyrocketed in the last month: I’ve been to Zoom birthday parties and connect groups and prayer meetings and Communion services — and we even have a women’s gathering coming up!
